Luis Robert Jr., an outfielder with the Chicago White Sox, is experiencing yet another difficult season. According to at least one Major League Baseball expert, Robert needs a new team because the youthful slugger is only hitting.158 so far this season.

In addition to being a much poorer hitter, he has also plateaued in center-field defense. Although Robert is the best prospect for a change of scenery, teams may view him more as a rental than a long-term solution given his $20 million club option in 2026 and 2027, according to Jeff Passan’s article for ESPN. “He could certainly deserve it if he made a change.”

While a number of his old colleagues have left town through trades or free agency, Robert has remained with the White Sox. Chicago has had nightmare after nightmare over the past few years, and if nothing changes, the team will have another season with 100 losses.

As of right now, the White Sox are 7-22.

Luis Robert Jr. is likely on the move from the White Sox

Robert is thought to be the main focus of the free agency negotiations this year. The player has been connected to a number of organizations, including the New York Mets. That’s largely owing to the fact that Robert worked out this offseason with Mets slugger Juan Soto.

There is also competition from the Philadelphia Phillies. Chicago has kept Robert as long as possible, despite his statements that he expects to be moved.

Robert’s stock seems to be heading downward. This is because he hasn’t played well offensively for the past year or so.

Passan stated, “The White Sox kept Robert this winter because they believed his value had dropped to its lowest point and that they could rebuild it and move him at the trade deadline.”

Robert only has four home runs and nine RBIs this season. That keeps up a frustrating pattern. The outfielder only managed 35 RBIs in almost 400 at-bats last season. Chicago thus dropped almost 120 games.

In Tuesday’s defeat to the Milwaukee Brewers, the White Sox slugger did manage to knock a home shot. Additionally, Robert recorded a stolen base for a squad that Milwaukee defeated 7–2.

At the plate, Robert feels he is making too many blunders.

Chicago White Sox: Luis Robert Jr. focused on returning to form

“I’m not swinging at pitches that are beyond the strike zone if I’m receiving walks, is I right? So why isn’t my offensive yielding results? What’s preventing me from striking the way I can? According to MLB.com, Robert spoke through an interpreter. “I believe it’s because I have been oblivious to their errors.

As of right now, it is the only reason I can think of. My offense will be strong once I begin pounding those pitches.

On Wednesday, Chicago will host the Brewers once again.
