Chad Baker-Mazara, a former guard for the Auburn Tigers, apparently sent another commit back to the portal when he committed to the USC Trojans.

After using the transfer portal, senior forward Keonte Jones, who spent two seasons with the Cal State Northridge Matadors, committed to play for the Trojans this spring. Jones went back to the portal shortly after Baker-Mazara made his transfer pledge public.

Baker-Mazar began his college career at Duquesne, transferred to San Diego State, and played for the Tigers for two seasons before committing to USC on April 28.

Even though he isn’t always the most composed player on the floor, Baker-Mazar has been an essential component of Auburn’s success in the SEC the past two years.

During his time with the Tigers, 6-foot-7, 180-pound guard Baker-Mazar averaged 12.3 points, 3.0 rebounds, 2.7 assists, and 1.2 steals per game. With a 32-6 record at the end of the previous season, Auburn won the regular-season conference championship.

Jones, a four-star transfer and the No. 32 forward in the country, started 65 games for the Matadors. Experts predicted that the former Cal State Northridge standout would not join any other team than the Trojans. But now that Baker-Mazar has been added to the roster, Jones is going to the portal.

Jones was selected to the Matadors’ All-Big West First Team for the previous season. He completed each game with an average of 13.1 points, 9.0 rebounds, 4.1 assists, 1.3 blocks, and 1.8 steals. Jones merely returned to the transfer portal three days ago, and he has yet to declare his next commitment.
