Double-digit clubs still have a chance to obtain a No. 1 overall choice, which is almost guaranteed to be utilized to acquire 6-foot-9 Duke basketball superstar forward Cooper Flagg, in the 2025 NBA Draft Lottery, which is just one week away. At 14.0 percent each, the Charlotte Hornets, Washington Wizards, and Utah Jazz have the greatest odds.
The 18-year-old from Maine would join former two-year Duke basketball standout forward Kyle Filipowski, a 7-foot New York native who had a strong rookie season in Utah despite losing in the early second round the previous season, if the Jazz were to win the Cooper Flagg sweepstakes.
That would make Utah the top scorer among the three Duke basketball teams under Jon Scheyer so far.
Filipowski led the Blue Devils in points as a freshman (15.1 per game) and sophomore (16.4) in Durham. He averaged 9.6 points and 6.1 rebounds in 72 games for the Jazz this season.
In addition to leading the team in rebounds, assists, steals, and blocks, Flagg, the most decorated rookie in school history, led the 2024–25 Blue Devils with 19.2 points per game.
In his most recent mock draft on Monday, Adam Finkelstein of CBS Sports predicted that Flagg’s professional career will start in Salt Lake City. “It was just about three years ago now that Donovan Mitchell, Rudy Gobert, and several others got shipped away to begin the massive rebuild in Utah,” Finkelstein said. “They hoped the things they bought would eventually produce their next big star. “That hope will come true if they acquire Flagg.”

Of course, the roster-developing team still has a chance to get a lottery prospect from Duke to team up with Kyle Filipowski if Utah falls at least a few spots behind the No. 1 overall choice. After all, it is generally predicted that Khaman Maluach and Kon Knueppel, both one-and-dones, will be among the first 14 players selected at the 2025 NBA Draft on June 25 at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center.
