Rafael Devers, the designated hitter for the Boston Red Sox, would seem to have bounced back from a bad start, as his 23 RBIs put him on pace for just shy of 100 and his.370 on-base percentage is just higher than his lifetime figure.
Devers, though, has spoken publicly how unhappy he is with his offseason position change. In order to make room for Alex Bregman, Devers, a longtime third baseman, moved to designated hitter. According to the three-time All-Star, the Red Sox now want him to go to first base.
He openly voiced his displeasure with Boston on Thursday, criticizing general manager Craig Breslow in the process.
Devers stated, “I just feel like it’s not an appropriate decision by them to ask me to play another position,” according to Christopher Smith of MassLive. “I spoke with the general manager. What he has with me is unknown to me. He played ball, and I hope he understands how difficult it is to switch positions like that.

Breslow, who has been in his present role since October 2023, was a reliever for seven different clubs during a 12-year period, from 2005 to 2006 and 2008 to 2017.
Even though Devers, a key member of the team, remains unclear, the Red Sox are 20-19 and right in the middle of the still-emerging postseason competition.
