Erick Fedde, a pitcher with the St. Louis Cardinals, shut out the Washington Nationals in a full game. The Cardinals pitcher dismissed the notion that he was seeking retribution.
According to The Athletic, Fedde stated following the game, “I have no ill-will towards the Nationals.” “They provided me with every chance.” I was picked and given the opportunity to play in the major leagues. In terms of my career, I owe them a great deal. However, there’s always a certain something about letting someone go and demonstrating your potential for improvement.
Fedde played abroad in 2023 before being picked up by St. Louis. Despite being selected in the first round of the 2014 Major League Baseball draft by Washington, the pitcher left the city after a number of years.
Fedde’s dominant effort has now led the Cardinals to six consecutive victories. The Cardinals pitcher gave up six hits in nine innings as St. Louis trounced Washington 10-0.
Erick Fedde looked reborn with the Cardinals against the Nationals
Fedde’s season record is presently 3-3. So far this season, his ERA is at 3.86. When pitching against the Nationals on Friday, the Cardinals pitcher reported feeling fantastic.
According to MLB.com, Fedde stated, “I was thinking I wanted it around the seventh [inning], when I realized my pitch count was really low and I was just cruising right along.” “But just to try to keep focused on the next pitch, one at a time, because I know that anything can happen when you get ahead of yourself.”
Eight strikeouts were recorded by the veteran at the end of the contest. It was his first full-length game in his career.
Oliver Marmol, manager of the Cardinals, stated, “We just saw him do something special.” Observing him maneuver through that lineup was cool. When you look at these guys, they’re a left-match all the way through, so for him to be able to go through that lineup the way they’ve been swinging, he had everything working.”
The way Fedde performed against the Nationals was very different from how he had been playing in earlier games this season. Fedde was pummeled on April 27 versus Milwaukee. He gave up 10 hits and seven runs.

Fedde is obviously hoped to maintain this momentum by Marmol and St. Louis. In an attempt to find the ideal arm mix to produce victories, the Cardinals have recently rotated their lineup.
With Friday’s victory, the Cardinals currently have a 20-19 record. On Saturday, St. Louis will meet Washington one again.
