Since Hannah Hidalgo first stepped foot on campus, there have been rumors that Olivia Miles and Hannah Hidalgo, the standout players for Notre Dame women’s basketball, did not get along. Due in large part to Miles’ injury and Hidalgo’s club being the Irish, the rumblings subsided throughout the 2023–24 season. However, they returned this season and became louder as Niele Ivey’s side labored down the stretch. It seems that one ND supporter may have found evidence of conflict on the squad in 2024–2025.

A recent video of the two getting back together at a WNBA game was shared by said fan, an X/Twitter user using by the handle katemartinlov3r. It doesn’t seem like the reunion was pleasant.

Video of Miles and Hidalgo raises new questions for Notre Dame

The video shows Hidalgo, who will start her third season at Notre Dame in the autumn, and Miles, who transferred to TCU during the winter, conversing in one of the game’s tunnels. The talk first appears to be amicable, but it quickly becomes clear that either nothing was amicable or that anything said caused tension.

Hidalgo eventually appears, first walking a short distance in his direction and then pointing with a strong gesture. Miles also begins making questioning gestures and pointing out herself.

The discussion apparently became so intense at one point that a security guard had to intervene, mediate the conflict, and order the two women to leave the area.

It begs the issue, but it’s one of those discussions about which those of us observing from the outside will probably never learn the whole truth. Was there a lot of conflict on the squad in the latter part of the season?

Following Notre Dame’s NCAA Tournament defeat, which prevented them from making it to the Elite Eight once more, Sonia Citron shared her thoughts on why the Irish, with so much quality on the team, couldn’t go past the Sweet 16. Citron thought the skill was “too much.”

At the time, it seemed rather clear that she was referring to the excessive number of personalities at Notre Dame that were at odds. That appears to be strongly supported by the video that depicts Olivia Miles and Hannah Hidalgo’s less than favorable exchange.
