The Seattle Seahawks may chase $39 million free agent Gabe Davis prior to the 2025 regular season after dealing away DK Metcalf this summer. Pro Football Focus claims that they think the Seahawks might sign Davis, a new wide receiver who recently been put on the market. The former UCF product started his career with the Buffalo Bills, where he attempted to be a dependable playmaker for Josh Allen’s offense after being taken in the fourth round of the 2020 NFL Draft. He no longer met the requirements, though, as the Jaguars gambled on him by offering the wide receiver a three-year contract that didn’t even pay off the following season.
The Jaguars were sidelined for the remainder of the season after former head coach Doug Pederson reported a torn meniscus injury in November. It was only fitting that they let him go because the team has been establishing a new administration in Jacksonville ever since. In their new regime under Liam Coen, the Jaguars are constructing a new wide receiver room behind Hunter and Brian Thomas Jr. after selecting Travis Hunter in the first round of this year’s draft. Even though the Seahawks signed Cooper Kupp earlier this summer, Davis may fit comfortably in Seattle.
On the back end of their depth chart, the Seahawks still require a wide receiver. As the only weapon available at number three, Marquez Valdes-Scantling might be paired with Davis to support Kupp and Jaxon Smith-Njigba. These two teams might be interested in acquiring Davis as a last-minute addition, but the Seahawks won’t be the only club to do so.

The Los Angeles Chargers are in dire need of another talented wide receiver, and it’s probably nearly painful. He can’t salvage this season to provide relief for Ladd McConkey, a promising star, even after adding veteran Mike Williams. However, Davis has the potential to become a reliable weapon for this offensive pass attack if they add a weapon for quarterback Justin Herbert to experiment with. Quentin Johnston is just too ineffective, and if 2025 draft selection Tre Harris is selected, it’s doubtful he will have a position beyond the preseason.
They need a seasoned player like Davis to save the squad, even with Harris on it. The Chargers are considering getting back together with Keenan Allen, but they have already seen what he is capable of, and they had to cut him last summer for a reason. Since he won’t be the same anymore, the Chargers can safely start again with Davis, who might be a No. 2 or third-man receiver to help salvage their 2025 season for a quarterback who gets better every year.
The Dynamic Trio?
Davis could be wanting to join a contender at this stage of his career. Kansas City is the best NFL team in the world at doing it. Davis might be their No. 4 receiver, despite the fact that Rashee Rice and Xavier Worthy will take up the majority of the snaps. This season, he doesn’t have to play every down, but he should be able to contribute and assist Marquise Brown in separating the aerial assault.
