There will be a lot of movement in terms of commitments on the recruiting trail between now and the summer, as Virginia Tech football coach Brent Pry has a number of recruits scheduling visits in June. The Class of 2026 recruiting season will pick up pace in May and June.
As they begin to make some major decisions, players are beginning to not only schedule visits but also reduce their list of potential schools. Kamdon Gillespie, a highly sought-after recruit from Mooreshead, North Carolina, reduced his list to three schools, including the Hokies, an ACC rival, and an AAC school.
Virginia Tech football makes final 3 for Kamdon Gillespie
Three-star, according to 247Sports, defensive edge Kamdon Gillespie from North Carolina published his Final 3 colleges, and the Hokies made the cut along with Georgia Tech and South Florida. According to his X account, the 6-foot-3, 245-pound player is slated to visit South Florida from June 200–22, one week after visiting Blacksburg from June 13–15.

As of right now, Virginia Tech has three pledges in the Class of 2026: kicker Will Love, linebacker Joshua Pittman, and wide receiver Carnell Warren.
Considering the other colleges that were interested with Gillespie, this is a recruitment fight that I’m sure the Hokies staff will make a priority, especially with Georgia Tech in the mix as well. It would be significant to add additional prospects to Virginia Tech’s defensive line, which already has several veterans. A victory here would solidify the idea that Virginia Tech has had some success recruiting in North Carolina under Pry.
