Nine games in a row have been won by the St. Louis Cardinals. There isn’t anything to be upset about in doing so. Outfielder Jordan Walker is one of the young Cards contributors who isn’t playing up to par, though. Other players, like as Victor Scott, 24, might play a larger role the longer he suffers.
A week ago, Oli Marmol commented on the challenges of several erstwhile high prospects like Walker and Nolan Gorman. While the Cards want to stay patient in their approach with these guys, win or lose, their ‘runway’ won’t endure forever.
According to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, Marmol stated, “There is runway in the sense of allowing them to fail.” “We knew at the beginning of the year that this would be different, and we don’t want them to be constantly watching them with the mindset, ‘If I don’t get two knocks tonight, I’m going to be in Memphis.'”
Cardinals young star Victor Scott II has taken major steps forward
Scott is one athlete who has exploited his runway. Scott, who primarily plays center field, has hit.288 in 38 games this season and has 1.6 WAR. Scott has taken advantage of his chances.
“Anything I can do, any low-hanging fruit I can get from him or anyone, man, I’m just trying to learn,” Scott added. “That’s all I’m trying to do, learn, grow, and develop, and try to accelerate the rate of development here so I don’t get stuck or lost.”
Scott arrived at Cardinals spring training prepared to put the changes he made at Triple-A last season into practice. He has done exactly that from the bottom of the Cards’ batting order, consistently getting on base and wreaking havoc on the basepaths.

“I believe Victor is the best illustration of it,” Marmol remarked. “He got a pretty good taste of what it looks like when the opposition game plans against you when he came in to start the season last year,” you said. He enters Triple-A, has a fantastic summer, returns, and modifies his swing, but also his routine and attitude, enabling him to be more consistent.”
Marmol would want to see the same strides made by Walker and other young Cardinals who have yet to take the same leaps ahead as Scott. Otherwise, Walker’s function can become even less significant than it already is.
