In spite of the Crimson Tide’s recent success in recruiting, Alabama was dealt some bad news on Wednesday when 4-Star running back Jonaz Walton formally committed to Notre Dame.

Following his choice, he declared on an On3 broadcast that “[Notre Dame] is building something special there.”

According to On3, Walton is the sixth-ranked running back in the country and the tenth-ranked athlete in Georgia. He has amassed more than 4,700 running yards and 56 touchdowns in his three seasons of varsity football. In addition, he has over 1,000 yards via the air and seven additional touchdowns as a proficient receiver out of the backfield.

In addition to finding difficult yards in the middle of the defense, the 5-foot-9, 205-pound prospect is a dynamic back who can beat opponents in the open field. He can deliver hits rather than absorb them thanks to his small frame, which also allows him to have excellent contact balance.

Alabama appears to be in good standing with fellow 2026 running back Ezavier Crowell, despite the fact that this is undoubtedly not ideal for the Crimson Tide. The native of Jackson, Alabama, recently said that he would be accelerating his committment from its initial date of December 31st.
