Auburn basketball assistant coach Chad Prewett revealed on X (previously Twitter) Wednesday that he is leaving the team to seek chances in ministry after 11 years on the Plains.
Prewett worked in a number of capacities after joining the staff before Bruce Pearl’s debut season in 2014. Prior to becoming an assistant coach, he served as the program’s director of basketball operations and as the head coach’s special assistant.
Prior to his stint at Auburn, Prewett had considerable success at the high school level, leading the girls and boys’ basketball teams at Lee-Scott Academy. He guided the girls’ team to four AISA state titles and the boys’ team to another. In 2006, Prewett and the Faith Academy boys basketball team won another AISA state title.
Auburn now has a staff vacancy for an assistant after Prewett left. The other four employees are Corey Williams, Ira Bowman, Mike Burgomaster, and Steven Pearl; Williams joined the company most recently in 2023.
