One former five-star recruit is getting ready for another collegiate basketball season as many of the nation’s best basketball players are busy getting ready for the NBA Draft.

After Duke advanced to the NCAA Tournament Final Four, Jon Scheyer’s team lost a number of important players. Caleb Foster is one player that intends to return and contribute significantly to the Blue Devils in 2025–2026.

Foster, a 6-foot-5 guard from Sherman Oaks, California’s Notre Dame High School, was a five-star prospect when he arrived at Duke. He declared in April that he will rejoin the Blue Devils for a third season. He has been working hard ever since to prepare for the forthcoming season.

Foster expressed his perspective in a social media video message:

“You did amazing job today, buddy. Today, I improved. I raised. performed conditioning. I went to the gym with my cousin “5” and my guy “5”. Every day a bit better. Man, that’s the aim. Man, that’s the procedure. I’m grateful for my health and the opportunity to accomplish this, God. I adore you all, Duke Nation.

Prior to his season ending in February due to an ankle injury, Foster played in 27 games as a freshman. Last year, he made a comeback to appear in 38 games, scoring 4.9 points per contest on average.

Foster played 13 minutes but failed to score in Duke’s Final Four game. But he did offer an assist and four rebounds. He scored 12 points in a resounding 93–49 victory over Mount St. Mary’s earlier in the tournament.

In addition to Isaiah Evans, Nikolas Khamenia, Cameron Boozer, and Patrick Ngongba II, Foster is anticipated to play a significant role in Duke’s rotation in the 2025–26 campaign. Without players like Cooper Flagg, Kon Knueppel, Tyrese Proctor, Khaman Maluach, and Sion James—all of whom are going on—the squad will look different.

The Blue Devils will be attempting to win their first NCAA Tournament championship since 2015 and their sixth overall. The program made its first appearance in the Final Four since 2022 when they traveled to San Antonio.
