After being ejected from Tuesday night’s game, Red Sox pitcher Walker Buehler was furious and took to several platforms to share his feelings.
Home plate umpire Mike Estabrook threw Buehler out with one out in the third inning for leaving the mound to argue balls and strikes, ending the two-time All-Star’s brief comeback from injury. Francisco Lindor’s response to the situation was notable, as was the fact that manager Alex Cora was also removed.
Earlier in the inning, Lindor seemed to lean into a pitch, and the New York Mets star publicly called for Buehler to be ejected. The All-Star shortstop’s antics were criticized by Red Sox fans, and Buehler couldn’t have agreed more.
“Neither would I want to be out there. The unfortunate part is that there are a lot of (crap) animals in the BULLPEN,” Buehler wrote on X. “Hard decision.”
In his replies after his dismissal, for which he accepted full responsibility, Buehler consistently praised the bullpen. Following Buehler’s departure, Boston utilized six relievers on Tuesday night, and the bullpen arms kept a strong Mets lineup scoreless.
At Fenway Park on Wednesday night, the Red Sox aim to win the series. The finale against New York will be fully covered by NESN starting at 5:30 p.m. ET.
