The New York Mets, who are having a terrific season, showed their appreciation for Francisco Lindor this week for hitting a significant career milestone.
Lindor just reached a significant and profitable milestone after completing his first ten years in Major League Baseball. Lindor’s teammates have commended his leadership on and off the field, and the club took the opportunity to recognize him for hitting that milestone.
Francisco Lindor’s Decade in the Majors
The Mets honored Lindor last week with a ceremony after declaring that he had achieved the significant career milestone, as New York Post reporter Mike Puma revealed in a post on X.
Before the game, Francisco Lindor received congratulations for completing ten years of service. He now owns all of his shares in the MLB pension plan, according to Puma.
At age 62, Lindor will now be able to collect the highest pension payout allowed by the league, which is $275,000 annually. When the team’s star agreed to a 10-year, $341 million contract, he became the highest-paid player in Mets history. However, Juan Soto’s $765 million deal has already surpassed it.
Lindor’s career milestone was praised by more than just the Mets. The MLB Players’ Association also paid tribute to him, thanking the Mets star for his leadership in a social media post.
Before being dealt to the Mets in 2021, Lindor spent the first six years of his career with the Cleveland Indians, where he made his major league debut in 2015 and won a World Series.
Francisco Lindor Getting Loose in Queens
After agreeing to his nine-figure contract with the Mets, Lindor claimed he felt a great deal of pressure to transform the team’s culture and make it a successful program. However, Lindor went on to say that he began to loosen up, which enabled him to have his finest season to date in 2024.

Lindor, who chose the walk-up song “My Girl” to thank his wife and three young children, who rely heavily on them for assistance, said his family has given him perspective.

The clubhouse has taken to Lindor’s attitude and calm manner. Lindor is “always lifting people up” and providing a positive example for his teammates, according to outfielder Jesse Winker.
