Andrew Benintendi had a season-high four RBI and ended a double shy of the cycle Wednesday, propelling the Chicago White Sox to a 9-4 win over the New York Mets that avoided a three-game sweep.

Benintendi (Arkansas Razorbacks) laced a two-run single in the first inning and an RBI triple in the sixth before blasting his sixth home run in the eighth. Lenyn Sosa also had three hits and Mike Tauchman provided a two-run double for the White Sox, who avoided being swept for the seventh time this season.

The Mets broke their four-game winning streak with a three-run homer from Mark Vientos. In the eighth, Pete Alonso doubled in RBI.

The Mets let up nine runs, which was a season-high.

As his batting average dropped to.224, Soto went 0 for 4 and failed to get a ball out of the infield. After 75 plate appearances, the $765 million slugger hasn’t hit a home run since May 9.

White Sox starter Shane Smith allowed 3 runs and walked 5 in 3 2/3 innings. Mets right-hander Griffin Canning (5-2) gave up 5 runs — 3 earned — while walking 4 in 3 innings.

Benintendi singled home Tauchman and Miguel Vargas one pitch after Vargas’ one-out double in the first.

Vargas has doubled in five straight games, the longest stretch by a White Sox player since Adam Dunn in May 2011.
