Mike Trout, an Angels All-Star, keeps going against the grain. Trout gave a powerful effort just days after he recovered from a left knee injury that kept him out of action for over a month. In the first inning, he hit a three-run home run off the Boston Red Sox. Additionally, he recorded his 1,675th career MLB hit, making history with the Los Angeles Angels.
Trout hit a soaring three-run homer over the Green Monster in the top of the first. He gave the Angels an early 5-0 lead with his tenth of the season. With an estimated 454 feet of travel, the blast’s exit velocity was 112.1 mph.
Trout went on to single in the third and fifth innings of the contest. With these hits, he surpassed club great Tim Salmon to take second place on the Angels’ all-time hits chart with a career total of 1,675.
Trout’s surgically repaired left knee, which had two operations in 2024, had a bone bruise earlier this season. He was placed on the disabled list for over four weeks as a result of this setback. Many were concerned that the injury would stop him in his tracks. Trout, however, took a tough stance against his rehabilitation and pushed for an earlier than expected comeback. His determination paid off. He rekindled the Angels’ offensive only a few days after returning to the starting lineup on May 30 against the Cleveland Guardians. He also put an end to skepticism over his recuperation.
In addition to surpassing Salmon, Trout’s historic 1,675th hit brought him within striking distance of Garret Anderson’s club record of 2,368 hits. The fact that Trout reached this milestone on a post-injury hot run makes it even more remarkable. In 13 at-bats since returning to the lineup, he has amassed eight hits. He has shown to both supporters and detractors that he is once again an MVP.
Trout has a.297 batting average, 388 home runs, 977 RBIs, and 214 stolen bases in 1,547 games over his illustrious career. Among his many honors are nine Silver Slugger awards, three American League MVP titles (2014, 2016, and 2019), eleven All-Star selections, and three All-MLB First Team choices. He is unquestionably one of baseball’s all-time greats based on these stats.
Against the Red Sox, his record 1,675th hit wasn’t simply a statistic. It represented Trout’s strength, tenacity, and unwavering capacity to perform in crucial situations despite setbacks due to injuries. Trout’s explosive return not only boosts the squad as the Angels advance in their 2025 season, but it also rekindles the club’s optimism that anything is possible now that their superstar is back to full strength.
