Manager Carlos Mendoza gave a good report on third baseman/designated hitter Mark Vientos on Wednesday, despite the fact that the slugger was placed on the 10-day disabled list this week due to a hamstring ailment.

We received somewhat positive news. According to SNY, he told reporters, “It’s a low-grade strain.” “We’re going to treat it for the next 10 to 14 days until he has no more symptoms, and then we’ll ramp him up again.” That’s good news.

Vientos grasped his hamstring in agony after falling out of the batter’s box during the 10th inning of Monday’s 4-3 victory against the Los Angeles Dodgers.

“Guys go down the way he did, and you never know.” Mendoza remarked, “You kind of expect the worst.” “After he completed all the testing and spoke with the trainers, it’s good news even though it’s low-grade. You hate to see him go down at any time.”

Vientos replaced DH Jared Young as a pinch bat in the eighth inning of Monday’s game. He was 0-for-2 by the end of the evening.

Vientos is batting through 53 games so far this season. 230 with 21 RBI and six home homers.

Brett Baty, who has taken up a larger portion of playing time at both third base and second base, has shared time at third base with Vientos.

Mets call up Mark Vientos

Prospect Ronny Mauricio was called up by the Mets to join them in Los Angeles following Vientos’ injury.
