The Angels are now focused on 2026 as they are no longer in the running for the playoffs. Over the last month and a half of this season, a few Halos are effectively testing out for their 2026 positions, even if the majority of fans will focus on the free agency and trade speculations.
Bryce Teodosio
It may already appear like Bryce Teodosio, the spark plug who came close to salvaging the Angels season on his own, will start at center field in 2026. His attacking play is still inconsistent, though. Teodosio will need to keep up his offensive prowess for the rest of the season if he hopes to solidify his spot in the Opening Day lineup.
Christian Moore

In a perfect world, Christian Moore is starting at second base for the next decade in Anaheim. However, despite a few standout performances as a Halo, Moore has often let us down. Early in his major league career, an injury slowed down some progress. However, if Moore is unable to recover and have a strong final 35 days before the 2025 season begins, the Angels may need to open 2025 with a different second base option.
Reid Detmers

Every Detmers game for the rest of the season will have significant ramifications for 2026 in a number of ways. After such a strong season in the bullpen, it seems likely that the Angels will want to give Detmers another chance in the rotation. In addition, if the Angels and Kenny Jansen are unable to reach a consensus, he may be searching for employment somewhere next season, freeing up the closer place. For that position, Detmers would probably be the top pick, and a successful finish to 2025 (particularly in high-leverage positions) would support his candidacy.
Victor Mederos

To be honest, Mederos hasn’t been either in his MLB career thus far, and the Angels rotation this season was just not good enough. A solid September from Mederos might have his name taken into consideration and at least make Spring Training competitive next season, even if everyone believes Tyler Bremner’s first-round selection will propel him to the major leagues.
Logan O’Hoppe

For Logan O’Hoppe, 2025 has been a season to forget. Every facet of his game, both offensively and defensively, suffered a significant setback. Regardless of whether it was the right choice, O’Hoppe might maintain his position as the starting backstop into 2026 if he can display some life over the remaining 30 games. The Angels may be searching for outside options come off season (Adley Rutschman, anyone?).
