Beaston wrote, “A one-two punch of Williams and Díaz would undoubtedly give the Mets one of the best reliever situations in the game, especially if the former can rediscover his level of play from his days in Milwaukee, where current Mets and former Brewers president of baseball operations David Stearns watched him become one of the best closers in the game.” “The question is whether New York and Díaz can find a middle ground on contract length, as the team is looking for something more in the range of three years, and the latter has made it clear that he is looking for five.”

Re-signing This winter, Diaz ought to be one of the Mets’ primary goals. He would contribute to the formation of a formidable tandem at Queens’ game backend.

For the past few years, Diaz has been a big star in New York, and he just had a strong campaign this year. For Mets supporters, getting him on a new contract would be a dream come true.
