During his press conference on Thursday, head coach Mark Pope said that Kentucky basketball point player Jaland Lowe had successfully had surgery on his right shoulder.

Lowe could return to the club as early as next week following the operation, which took place on Wednesday. A return to the court is anticipated sometime in the late summer, since his rehabilitation is expected to take six months.
“Yesterday’s procedure went well for him. He’ll be on his way to getting better. Pope stated, “I hope he can return on Tuesday, but I’m not sure if he will be available on Saturday.” Unless a miracle occurs, his rehabilitation will take six months. I think miracles are possible. We’ll see.
Since the October Wildcats Blue-White Game, Lowe has struggled with a persistent dislocated shoulder. Following many shoulder recurrences, Lowe and his family consulted with Pope and made the decision to proceed with the season-ending injury.
Lowe will request a medical redshirt in order to regain a season of eligibility, according to Pope. He averaged 8.0 points, 2.4 assists, and 2.1 rebounds at the end of his 2025–2026 campaign. He made nine appearances with the Wildcats.
For now, the intention is for Lowe to be back at UK next season, but we’ll see how things pan out once the transfer portal season is underway.
