A few SEC basketball games on Tuesday night had a certain vibe to them.
Following Alabama’s four-player defensive possession against Georgia, Kentucky said, “hold my beer.” When the Wildcats attempted a free throw against Texas A&M, six players were on the court. The best part, though, is that none of the three SEC referees saw the additional substitution during the play.
You may be wondering how this could occur, but it’s just one more reason why math is essential.
In terms of the actual game, the Aggies won handily, 96-85. Mark Pope’s Kentucky team needed to win this game in order to qualify for the NCAA Tournament as an at-large team. According to ESPN’s Joe Lunardi and the most recent Bracketology, the Wildcats will now need to improve their record in the SEC tournament in order to stay a No. 6 seed.
Ten SEC clubs are expected to compete in the NCAA tournament, with Auburn being the first team eliminated. In two weeks, all four of the aforementioned teams should be included in the field of 68.
