There were a number of possible outcomes for Kentucky in Nashville the next week going into today’s game. They could lose tonight and perhaps drop as far as the 10th spot without a bye, or they could win today and receive the No. 4 seed and a double bye.
Kentucky won’t even have a bye as they did in the previous year’s tournament, so BBN will have to take over Bridgestone Arena on Wednesday following today’s defeat. We are certain that the Wildcats will play on Wednesday, even if their precise seed won’t be known until Oklahoma vs. Texas is over.
Kentucky, the 9th seed, will play the 16th seed on Wednesday at 12:30 PM ET if Oklahoma defeats Texas. However, if Texas prevails, the Cats will play the 15th seed at 7 PM ET as the 10th seed.
This season has been so dismal that there isn’t much else to say about it. The Cats went from being contenders for the national championship in the preseason to playing on the first night of the SEC Tournament in Nashville.
It wouldn’t surprise anyone if Mark Pope and his squad advanced to the second weekend of the NCAA Tournament. But it appears that this team’s limit is the Sweet 16. Asking this club to win five straight games in Nashville may seem like an insurmountable assignment, but miracles can happen.
