The Wolverines are more than just a contender for the national championship after defeating Michigan State on Sunday to secure the best regular season in Michigan basketball history.

They are the clear favorite to win everything. This comes after Duke guard Caleb Foster, one of the top defensive guards in the nation and a vital component of the Blue Devils’ game, suffered an injury that could change the course of the game.
Foster sustained an injury during Saturday’s Duke victory over North Carolina. Foster and big man Patrick Ngongba, a talented 6-foot-11 sophomore, will both miss the ACC tournament, according to head coach Jon Scheyer.
Ngongba will not participate in the ACC competition either. When Foster came back from the locker room, he had a boot on his foot. Naturally, Michigan basketball has experienced its own setbacks due to the season-long absence of LJ Cason, who is regarded as the top backup point guard in college basketball.
Roddy Gayle and Trey McKenney combined for 27 points on Sunday while he was away. While McKenney, a true freshman, scored 12 points, including two crucial 3-pointers, Gayle scored 15 off the bench.
Michigan basketball is new betting favorite to win national championship
As of right now, Michigan basketball is the team to beat, according to the oddsmakers. Duke’s odds are at +360, while the Wolverines’ are +340. Next are Arizona at +550, Florida at +750, and Houston at +1000.
Since 1989, Michigan has not taken home the national college basketball championship. In 1992, 1993, 2013, and 2018, the Wolverines placed second nationally.
