Everyone is looking for the team that can win the 68-team field and cut down the nets in Indianapolis as the NCAA Tournament approaches and brackets are being filled out in large numbers.

Having coached the Duke Blue Devils for 42 seasons and won five national titles, famed college basketball coach Mike Krzyzewski is well-versed in winning championships.

He stated during an appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show” that he believes the Florida Gators, the current 2025 champions, have a “real chance” to win the NCAA championship, even though he is still riding with them and current head coach Jon Scheyer in his retirement to make a run.

“They do have a chance,” Krzyzewski declared. One of the most important things is that they have their four big players back from the previous season. Todd Golden is an incredible coach. Boogie Fland and Xavien Lee, their two guards, were learning how to play at that level early in the season, and those guys have been on this run before. Being at that level is now familiar to them.

“They got knocked out by [Vanderbilt], but until they lost this last game they were probably the hottest team in the country… they rebound the hell out of it. They definitely have a shot to do it.”

Fans responded to Krzyzewski’s appearance on McAfee’s show and his belief that the Florida Gators might be destined for greatness once more.

“As a Gator fan I agree, but not having elite guard play this year will likely be our undoing. Vandy shot lights out against us and we went cold from the guard spot,” a supporter commented.

Another person said, “Going back to back for a second time would be insane.” Someone else said, “Hope he’s right but doubt it.” “I’ve always maintained that Coach K is the greatest thinker in the sport and that I respect his viewpoint. “Excellent choice, coach!” a supporter commented.

Another person said, “I have been watching your show for the last couple of years and I have to say that this segment with Coach K was one of your best ever!”

Florida will play out of the South Region as the fourth and final No. 1 seed. Their first game is set for Friday against the winner of Prairie View vs. Lehigh in the First Four. They would face the victor of No. 8 Clemson and No. 9 Iowa in the Round of 32 if they progress.
