Cam Boozer

We weren’t sure how historic Cam Boozer’s season with the Blue Devils would be, but we thought there was a strong chance. We do now, and if Boozer was capable of exceeding the standards set for him, he did.

The rookie sensation became the first player of this century to finish a season with 700 points, 300 rebounds, and 100 assists. After Cooper Flagg won the award the previous season, Boozer is the overwhelming favorite to earn Naismith National Player of the Year, giving Duke back-to-back winners.

Cameron Boozer did all the things for Duke this season

The precise figures are 143 assists (4.2 APG), 347 rebounds (10.2 RPG), and 765 rebounds (22.9 PPG). In addition, he has a 56.5 percent shooting percentage from the field, a 40.9 percent 3-point shooting percentage, and a 77.5 percent free-throw shooting percentage, all of which he will continue to improve as his career develops.

Boozer is a versatile player who can score from both inside and outside the arc. He puts a lot of effort on the glass and has contributed to extra possessions for the Blue Devils this season with over 3.5 offensive rebounds per game. His passing is a testament to his basketball IQ and his ability to see the game.

Additionally, if Boozer wins the Naismith Award as predicted, it will be the first time a school has had consecutive winners since Duke’s Shane Battier and Jay Williams in 2001 and 2002.

It’s time for Boozer to flourish on the biggest stage in college basketball. You shouldn’t undervalue his impact on the game even if his shot isn’t making it. This is perhaps the only chance we’ll get to see Boozer on stage because he is expected to be a high lottery pick in the next NBA Draft. I hope he has six more Blue Devil games left in him.
