Collin Klein, the first-year head coach of the Wildcats, has been putting a lot of effort into developing a solid Kansas State football staff, but the squad is about to undergo another change. Marcus Woodson, a co-defensive coordinator, may be joining Ole Miss just a few months after being hired.

According to CBS Sports insider Matt Zenitz, Woodson, who joined Kansas State in late December as a co-defensive coordinator and defensive backs coach, is anticipated to rejoin the SEC. He has been an Arkansas staff member for the past three seasons.

After former head coach Lane Kiffin left for LSU, Ole Miss turned to Pete Golding as they began their first full season under new leadership. Golding and Woodson have never worked together as coaches before.

Additionally, Woodson’s resume lists stops at Memphis, Auburn, and Florida State. He would be the first Wildcats assistant to leave since Klein took charge if the move is approved.

According to some accounts, Woodson, defensive coordinator Jordan Peterson, and defensive backs coach Jeremiah Johnson were the three coaches covering that defensive quadrant.

These kinds of coaching adjustments are typical in the Power Five, particularly prior to spring workouts. Ole Miss might be a better fit than Kansas State given Woodson’s SEC background.

Finding a successor and keeping the rest of the defensive staff are now the Wildcats’ top priorities.
