Are you listening intently? Although the rivalry between North Carolina and Duke on the court has been intense and hateful for decades, Jon Scheyer is currently outperforming Hubert Davis. As the top overall seed in the NCAA Tournament, Duke has moved to the Round of 32, while North Carolina completely collapsed against underdog VCU in their No. 6 vs. No. 11 first-round matchup.

Jeff Goodman created the following picture of UNC’s situation, which is much more alarming.

He stated that Duke had won nine tournament games to North Carolina’s two in the four seasons since Scheyer replaced Mike Krzyzewski. Given that he decided not to include North Carolina’s victory in the First Four at that time, Goodman might be particularly petty in this situation. The good people in Chapel Hill are feeling a certain way now that Davis has been in his position at his alma university for a longer period of time.

Although it was four years ago, Davis did make it to the national championship game in 2022.

Scheyer will equal Davis’ career victory total of 125 in one fewer season if Duke makes it to the Final Four.

Duke is clearly beating UNC over the Jon Scheyer-Hubert Davis debate

UNC despises Duke with all of its heart, even while Duke can’t bear North Carolina. This seems to contribute significantly to the enormous inferiority complex that the Tar Heels consistently appear to exhibit, even though they are among the blue-bloods of the sport. We are discussing North Carolina’s premier university. It was where Michael Jordan played. There are no excuses. Just go be better!

Regarding Duke, Scheyer’s outstanding coaching abilities earned the Blue Devils the top overall seed in this year’s NCAA Tournament. His Duke team isn’t the most gifted in history. In addition to being a squad led by freshman sensation and Duke alumnus Cameron Boozer, there are injuries to overcome. You could argue that this team has already exceeded expectations.

Under Davis’ leadership, you can anticipate the Tar Heels losing double-digit games against North Carolina every year. Everyone with eyes knows that this is simply not good enough for UNC, even though he may have played for them as Scheyer did at Duke. What has UNC accomplished when Duke has won the ACC on the floor in both the men’s and women’s divisions and the girdiron?

In other words, Davis should receive a lifetime extension based on Goodman’s evaluation of the UNC scenario!
