A former guard for the Liberty, just revealed that he intends to use the transfer portal when it opens on April 7th, which is a significant addition. Mark Pope should notice this right away because Decker Jr. is from Elizabethtown, Kentucky.
Decker Jr. averaged 16.9 points per game for the Flames of Liberty this season, shooting 47.1% from three and 49.9% from the field. Given that Decker Jr. is a native of Kentucky and will probably become the best three-point shooter in the transfer portal, Coach Pope must make every effort to sign him.

Other than Collin Chandler, the Wildcats’ three-point shooting was lacking last season. Although Kam Williams, Otega Oweh, and Denzel Aberdeen were all good three-point shooters, Chandler was the only player that supporters could count on to score from beyond the arc.
Pope’s offense won’t be too good if he doesn’t have many players who can make threes, which is why the Wildcats had a difficult season last year. Coach Pope must take note of this error and use the portal to add a number of players who can fill it from deep. Decker Jr. is undoubtedly a player that would be a perfect fit for this staff to take over as Koby Brea.
Decker Jr. might emerge from the bench as a flamethrower from beyond the arc if he chooses Kentucky, and Pope won’t take him off the court in the games where he simply can’t seem to miss. Decker Jr. could be the team’s shooter, but Pope will need players who can score from wherever on the floor for the other backcourt players he hires.
Decker Jr. is only a sophomore, so if Kentucky were to sign him, he could continue to improve and rank among the top players in the country over his final two years of collegiate basketball. Finding the best shooter in the gateway would be a fantastic place to start for Pope, who requires players who are knockout shooters from long range.
Decker Jr. would be a great start, but Pope will still need to find some additional players who can be dependable from three if Kentucky is able to sign him. To get the Kentucky boy back home, Coach Pope must exert every effort.
