Bill Self declared on Wednesday afternoon that he will take over as the Kansas Jayhawks’ head coach once more.

Due to worries about health-related issues in recent years, Self stated that he would be addressing his coaching future with his family, raising speculations about whether he will retire.

Self’s revelation is significant for college basketball since it appeared like Kansas and North Carolina, two of the biggest names in the sport, may be searching for a head coach this offseason.

However, this raises the question for Kentucky supporters: Will Tyran Stokes, the country’s best prospect, decide to play at Kansas rather than Kentucky?

Many people who have been following this recruiting believe that Stokes has been holding off on choosing between the Jayhawks and the Wildcats until he is certain that Self will be sidelined for Kansas next season.

Some believed Stokes would make an announcement during Tuesday night’s McDonald’s All-American game, but in the end, they chose to hold out, probably since Self hasn’t made one yet.

Even if Self had chosen to retire, there was no assurance that Kentucky would acquire Stokes, but now that Self has joined Kansas, the coaching staff at Kentucky will undoubtedly face more difficulties.
