This season, the Detroit Tigers are off to a fantastic start. And after defeating the Tampa Bay Rays on Monday, they accomplished a feat.

With just two winning seasons in the previous ten, Detroit hasn’t enjoyed much success in the past ten years. They haven’t made it back to the World Series since 2012 since they haven’t been in the playoffs as much.

However, their 5-1 triumph over the Rays was a positive indication for the team’s future this season. They secured the victory at home by scoring the final three runs of the game, leading 2-1 after three innings.

They currently have a record 24 games above the.500 winning percentage after the contest. This marks their first such action since 2013.

How Tigers played against Rays

The Tigers, who have a good 31-14 home record, defeated the Rays in a convincing manner.

Detroit defeated their conference rival with outstanding performances on both sides of the ball. After 33 at-bats, they managed to get nine hits, including three home runs. The players that hit home runs during the game were Zach McKinstry, Colt Keith, and Javier Baez.

By restricting the Rays’ offense to five hits in 30 at-bats for only one run, the Tigers’ bullpen performed a fantastic job. Keider Montero, who pitched six innings and struck out four hitters while giving up four hits and the lone run, won the victory for the club.

Detroit now holds the first place in the AL Central Division rankings after improving to a 58-34 season record. They are 14.5 games ahead of the Kansas City Royals and 14 ahead of the Minnesota Twins. It’s a strong indication of what the team might expect this season as they strive for a postseason berth.

In preparation for Game 2 of their series against the Rays, the Tigers will get ready. The competition is scheduled on July 8 at 6:40 p.m. ET.
