If the Philadelphia Phillies wish to overcome the obstacles and defeat the Los Angeles Dodgers, they must have a successful offseason. However, a few of their stars are expected to go this offseason.

JT Realmuto, Kyle Schwarber, and Ranger Suárez are all currently free agents. Realmuto and Schwarber appear to be the Philadelphia front office’s top targets. Given their strong pitching depth, it seems the Phillies won’t try too hard to keep Suárez.
The Athletic’s Jim Bowden recently projected that Suárez would sign a massive six-year, $164 million contract with the Baltimore Orioles.
Bowden observed, “The Orioles learned the hard way in 2025 what happens when you neglect the pitching market in the offseason.” “They can’t let players like Jackson Holliday and Gunnar Henderson waste their prime by not developing a solid rotation.”
Last offseason, the Orioles neglected their pitching staff, and it paid off. Despite having a youthful, promising core, they missed out on the postseason because their pitching staff was unable to keep up throughout 162 games.
Although it would be a significant move, the Orioles can currently afford to sign Suárez. The Orioles still have some financial flexibility because their core hasn’t reached free agency and requested large contract extensions.
Although it would be somewhat out of character for Baltimore, this kind of acquisition would enable them to cut the gap in the competitive American League East.
