Just days after losing to the North Carolina Tar Heels, Caleb Foster’s injury was officially reported as a fracture in his right foot, for which he has already undergone surgery and is recovering.

His absence is clearly felt as the ACC Tournament begins and the Duke Blue Devils are only one day away from beginning their postseason.

Even though he will miss March Madness, Foster made sure that there was still hope in a letter to his teammates and the Cameron Crazies.

“I’ll do whatever it takes to return. I’ll return. According to head coach Jon Scheyer, Foster informed the team and staff.

Fans should be thrilled by Foster’s commitment to the Brotherhood, regardless of whether that means he will be available when Duke is (ideally) in the Final Four in less than a month (unlikely) or if he is announcing that he will return for a fourth season with the Blue Devils.

As the only junior in the bunch, Foster is the most seasoned Blue Devil in Scheyer’s starting lineup. He is accompanied by sophomores Isaiah Evans and Patrick Ngongba II, who is also sidelined for the ACC Tournament but is expected to return for the Big Dance.

Now that Foster and Ngongba will be sidelined for at least a week or more, rookie point guard Cayden Boozer will handle the backcourt, and senior center Maliq Brown will add his postseason experience to the starting five.

Caleb Foster informed the group and employees:

Even though Foster’s absence is detrimental to the club, the Blue Devils’ season is far from over. He consistently contributes to Duke’s games with his career-high 8.5 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 2.8 assists.

Nonetheless, the Blue Devils have actually led in the majority of statistical categories thanks to players like Cameron Boozer, the season’s top rookie.
