After losing 80-66 in the NCAA Tournament’s First Round in a brief postseason, Mizzou basketball made some early offseason adjustments. Anthony Robinson II, a crucial point guard, revealed he will be using the portal this offseason, while forward Trent Pierce announced he will remain for his senior year.
Robinson, a 6’3 guard from Tallahassee, Florida, was a three-star prospect who chose Mizzou’s Class of 2023 over Auburn and Florida State.
Robinson made 30 appearances in his freshman year and had an incredible sophomore campaign that earned him a spot on the SEC All-Defensive Team. However, the once-projected NBA first-round talent wasn’t expecting a junior season that fell short of expectations.
The rise of T.O. Barrett forced Robinson out of the starting lineup midway through this season’s SEC play. With Barrett expected to return, and five-star guard Jason Crowe Jr. coming into the mix, it makes some sense that Robinson sees better opportunity for his final season of eligibility.
You can see the influence AR has on both sides of the ball if you watch any tape, even though Robinson’s season may not have the numbers that big league teams are looking for in the transfer portal. In an attempt to land a spot and shine before the 2027 NBA Draft, I would anticipate Robinson joining another high-major institution.
Robinson finishes his Mizzou career with an average of 7.3 points, 2.7 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 156 career steals after over 100 games and 50 starts.
In other news, Dennis Gates and company have a tight hold on Trent Pierce, who was re-signed prior to the 2026 season.
After missing the nonconference schedule due to injury, Pierce, a starter for two seasons, averaged 10.4 points, 3.8 rebounds, 1.2 assists, and 1.1 steals per game. In 2026, he will continue to strive for improvement with a new squad.
