Although the transfer portal won’t open until April 7th, it’s not too early to start learning who the Wildcats might be interested in when it does. Central Arkansas guard is one name to keep an eye out for.

Kentucky is anticipated to get involved with Hunter once he formally enters the gateway next week, according to Jacob Polacheck of KSR.

Hunter’s collegiate basketball career has been exceptional. After missing the 2023–24 season while redshirting due to a foot ailment, he played his first three seasons at Central Arkansas before transferring to Wisconsin for the 2024–25 campaign. Hunter experienced Power Four-caliber basketball even though he averaged less than half a point per game with the Badgers.

Hunter averaged 21 points per game and shot about 37% from three-point range during the previous season back at Central Arkansas. In addition to actively seeking an extra year of eligibility, he will think about going back to Central Arkansas. It appears that he is requesting what would be a sixth year of eligibility because he only played in 11 games at Wisconsin after his injury the year before.

This past month, the Bears played their final game in the Atlantic Sun Tournament Championship Game. Hunter scored 49 of the Bears’ 93 points despite their 98-93 loss to Queens. That accounts for more than half of the points.

Hunter is one of three names to keep an eye on regarding the Kentucky gateway, along with Finley Bizjack of Butler, Miles Byrd of San Diego State, and many more names in the upcoming weeks.
