Rumors are circulating quickly as the college basketball transfer portal opens in less than a week, and the Kentucky Wildcats are still being connected to a number of players. For Mark Pope and the Cats, a new name on the list is actually an old name.

In the 2024 recruiting class, Tyrone Riley IV came in just outside the top 100. Despite offers from the USC Trojans, Florida Gators, and Texas A&M Aggies, he decided to go to San Francisco, where his father played.

Riley decided to use the transfer portal following his freshman year. Pope and Kentucky were among the many clubs that expressed interest in him. Riley did think about signing with the Wildcats, but in the end he went back to San Francisco.

Kentucky is now anticipated to be in the running once more, according to Kentucky Sports Radio’s Jacob Polacheck. This previous season, Riley hit 37% from three-point range and averaged 12 points and 5 rebounds per game. As a result, he was selected for the All-WCC squad.
