Although Kenny Brooks expressed his excitement about this year’s roster, the Cats coach is already planning for the future when it comes to recruiting. As crazy as it may sound, the Wildcats were by no means the first program to make an official offer to a 15-year-old high school sophomore, according to KSR.

Charlotte McCurry is receiving an endless number of offers. It was horrible that Billy Gillespie offered middle school students at Kentucky, but it was only because the entire nation made fun of him for it. This situation is very, very different. McCurry is a hooper.

Despite only starting her sophomore year, McCurry has been a member of the varsity squad at John Hardin in Elizabethtown for three years. In addition to being ahead of the curve in that regard, McCurry has averaged 27.2 points per game throughout her three years as a starter. That’s excellent for last year’s fifth-best in the state.

McCurry’s offer sheet included Kentucky along with Providence, Indiana, Wisconsin, Texas A&M, Miami, Dayton, SMU, Virginia Tech, Northern Kentucky, Murray State, Bowling Green, Liberty, and Western Kentucky. That is an extensive laundry list.

McCurry, who is already 6 feet tall and shot a blazing 58% last year, would easily fit into the SEC. Last season, the high-scoring potential averaged more than ten rebounds per game; remember, she was a freshman. The possibilities are truly endless. It means a lot to be able to be so near to Kentucky and to have a wonderful rapport with the coaching staff because they have faith in my abilities.”Having people like them believe in me is so special,” McCurry said to the BGDailyNews, hinting at the early bond she’s already developing with Brooks and his team.

“I really like what coach Brooks has done with the guards at Kentucky over the past two years… Additionally, he has a wonderful rapport with his players, which is very important to me.

Recall that in an attempt to motivate the youngster, Kenny Brooks referred to Clara Strack as the “worst” superstar he had ever coached during the previous season. It worked, of course. As a coach, you must have a thorough understanding of your players and know just how to bring out the best in them. However, adding McCurry to Kentucky’s roster of stars won’t be that simple.

“My grandfather is a huge lover of North Carolina and was raised there. I’ve spoken with the North Carolina coaching staff, but I haven’t received an offer yet,” McCurry stated. “I make an effort not to favor any one side…I know to keep an open mind when it comes to recruiting since all I want is to be able to go somewhere that has a nice family culture.

Brooks is obviously going through the preliminary steps to ensure that spot is in Lexington, but it will be some time before we hear out.
