A 28-year-olddsouthpaw wass signed to a minor league deal by the Philadelphia Phillies on Thursday, giving Triple-A Lehigh Valley pitching depth. Before returning to Philadelphia, where he also pitched during the 2024 season, Allard had recently opted out of a minor league contract with the Cleveland Guardians.
This season, Allard had eight appearances at Triple-A Columbus, including five starts, and pitched 30 2/3 innings with a 4.11 ERA. In addition, he had a strikeout-to-walk ratio of 28/9 and a 1.14 WHIP. He produced ground balls on 45.3% of balls in play, had a walk rate of 7.2%, and a strikeout rate of 22.4%.

During his brief major league stint with Cleveland, Allard made four bullpen appearances and pitched 8 2/3 innings with a 10.38 ERA. On April 13, he was designated for assignment; on April 16, he was optioned to Columbus; the next day, he re-signed a minor league contract. Despite being freed on May 17, he stayed with Columbus until his last appearance on June 14.
Allard demonstrated versatility as a starter and reliever during his Triple-A tenure with the Guardians organization, going 2-0 in eight games. After his time in Columbus, he returned to free agency before joining the Phillies again, and he recently decided to opt out.
Allard pitched 65 innings for Cleveland in 2024 with a 2.63 ERA, 42 strikeouts, and 14 walks in the previous major league season. Nevertheless, the underlying signs were a 4.41 SIERA and a 3.54 FIP. He has a 5.47 ERA over the course of nine seasons in the MLB.
The rear of the rotation in Philadelphia’s pitching depth situation is questionable due to a number of internal options and recent roster changes that have an impact on the staff. Allard, who has experience in both the majors and Triple-A, is now a non-roster option with the Phillies.
