Before first pitch, manager Carlos Mendoza provided some injury reports on the team’s recuperating starting pitchers. The Mets will try to even up their three-game series against the Boston Red Sox on Tuesday night.
This is what the manager said.
Sean Manaea

After throwing a bullpen on Thursday, the left-hander will throw another one on Wednesday. Following an oblique injury sustained during spring training, Manaea was unable to throw in early April due to inflammation shown by an MRI, but he is still progressing.
Frankie Montas

On Wednesday, the seasoned right-hander will throw live batting practice in Brooklyn, receiving two “up-downs,” according to Mendoza. On Monday, he threw a bullpen session against Brooklyn.
While he heals from a lat injury sustained during spring training, Montas, who was signed this offseason, has not yet made his Mets debut.

Paul Blackburn

According to Mendoza, Blackburn will start his sixth rehab game on Wednesday with the aim of reaching 80 pitches. Mendoza stated that if Blackburn’s start goes well, the Mets will have to decide what to do with him next.
After being restricted by a back ailment in 2024, Blackburn has been recuperating from a knee injury. During his rehabilitation, he has pitched 16.0 innings and given up 10 earned runs on 14 hits.
