With a 33-17 record through their first 50 games, the Detroit Tigers have so far been MLB’s Cinderella tale. As of this writing, they hold the best record in the majors in addition to being the leaders in the AL Central. Since Gleyber Torres has been a major contributor to that, you can only imagine how anxious Tigers supporters are now that he left Thursday’s game due to lower right leg pain.
As of right now, Torres’ lower right leg pain is the only diagnosis. Tigers supporters will wait for a definitive diagnosis, particularly as Torres has already lost time this season due to injury.
Tigers fans hope for the best following another Gleyber Torres injury scare

The Tigers can tolerate this injury if it’s not too serious. However, this squad may be in serious problems if it’s big.
When Torres signed a one-year, $15 million contract this past summer, Tigers supporters weren’t really sure what to expect. Although he had a history of success, he was coming off a poor season and had concerns about his defense and base running.
Rather, since his arrival, Torres has given Detroit an incredible spark. He slashed into Thursday’s action. In 37 games, he has five home runs and 24 RBI (281/.363/.432). He has been among the league’s top offensive second basemen this season and is playing as well as he has in a few years. He’s been a huge addition for the Tigers.
His right-handed bat is where he has contributed the most to the Tigers. Sandwiched between left-handed hitters like Riley Greene, Zach McKinstry, and Kerry Carpenter, Torres has been batting second in the order almost every day, giving them the balance they lacked the previous season. Their left-handed heavy lineup would be even more dependent on left-handers in his absence. The only right-handed hitter they would be afraid of is Spencer Torkelson.
The only thing Tigers supporters can do right now is pray for positive news. Torres is a vital member of Detroit’s squad this season, even if he might not be a long-term fit there. Their prospects of contending for a World Series championship may be hampered if he struggles to stay on the field.
