Although it may appear that everything is paying off now, the 2026 Texas defensive lineman’s ability to maintain his hard work is a significant factor in why he was pursued by several colleges until he down his selection to three: Notre Dame, Michigan, and Kansas.
In anticipation of Vallejo’s planned college announcement next Wednesday, the Liberty Hill High School standout came in South Bend on Sunday night for his first-ever visit to Notre Dame.
Over the past few months, the Irish have worked hard to bring in the 6-foot-3, 300-pound player, but it is nothing in comparison to what Vallejo has been doing for the past several years to earn this position.
When asked what makes Vallejo unique, Carlos Chester responds, “It’s just his work ethic.”
Chester owns Nine 0 Elite, a company that focuses in developing lineman, and serves as its lead enhancement trainer.
Chester goes on to describe Vallejo as “continuing to push to get better.” He always encourages his classmates to put forth more effort since he enjoys outperforming them. He just devotes himself to his work.
Since Vallejo was in fifth grade, Chester has been working with the 2026 Texas defensive lineman. Despite Vallejo’s natural stature, Chester believes that he has worked hard to develop into a genuine national potential.
Chester claims that he has essentially tried to achieve that in terms of his strength, quickness, and technique. In addition to his stature, he was not particularly gifted in many other areas. However, he has worked hard to become the player he is now.
Even before Vallejo entered high school, Chester saw the promise.
“I think I saw it in seventh or eighth grade,” he recalls. Because of his commitment, I believed he had the potential to be great.
Many children fail the program I administer, which is quite demanding and high-end. He is among those who persevered. Observing his intents to be good was sufficient. Not always has he been as fast as he is today. He has worked on it throughout the years, and his footwork and commitment in the weight room have essentially made him a fantastic player.
Chester is certain that future expansion will continue.
Chester remarks, “He has a great understanding of the game.” He learns the game really well. That will also be very beneficial to him at the following level.
However, his potential is boundless. He still has the opportunity to improve his technique and just learn how to play at a higher level. I believe that the only thing he will need to get used to is the game’s altered pace. His potential for growth is boundless.
Chester, who also trains Tiki Hola, an Irish defensive line recruit, is already preparing them for college.
“We always get ready for the next phase. We were never ready for where he was now. After graduating from high school, these youngsters will undoubtedly be plug-and-play as soon as they set foot on college.
