Nottingham Forest manager Oliver Glasner has delivered a strong warning about the club’s current struggles, insisting that major changes are required following another disappointing Premier League result.

Forest suffered a 2-0 defeat against Brentford on Saturday, leaving them 19th in the standings after collecting just a handful of positive results from their opening nine league fixtures.

The Austrian manager has now demanded significant changes throughout the club, warning that his position could eventually be occupied by another coach if his expectations are not met.

Oliver Glasner sends Nottingham Forest bombshell after Brentford setback

Glasner was brutally honest when discussing Forest’s disappointing performances, admitting that his own approach must change if the club are to escape the relegation battle.

He acknowledged that losing four of their previous five matches was unacceptable and revealed his intention to introduce a different approach.

The former Crystal Palace manager suggested that he had made too many concessions in certain areas and was now prepared to take a much tougher position with his squad.

Glasner explained that he would clearly communicate his expectations to the players, demanding complete commitment to the club’s intended direction. He believes Forest can turn their season around if the squad embraces his plans.

However, he issued a significant warning, suggesting that another manager could eventually be appointed if the players fail to respond to his demands.

The 52-year-old also stressed that rebuilding Forest would require changes throughout the organization, starting from the bottom and extending to the top.

He made it clear that he would no longer compromise on his footballing principles, insisting that everyone must be committed to the same objectives.

Glasner further questioned the club’s recurring difficulties in the Premier League, suggesting that repeatedly finding themselves near the bottom of the table over several seasons points towards deeper structural problems.

Although determined to make his project successful, the Forest boss acknowledged that his future would ultimately depend on whether the changes he intends to implement produce the desired results.

Nottingham Forest rules out Nuno Espírito Santo reunion

Glasner’s explosive remarks have naturally increased speculation about his future at the City Ground, particularly considering Forest’s recent record of managerial appointments and dismissals.

Former manager Nuno Espírito Santo is among the experienced coaches currently available after West Ham dismissed him on Tuesday following their disappointing start to the Championship campaign.

The Portuguese tactician previously enjoyed an impressive spell at Nottingham Forest, guiding the club towards European qualification before departing in September 2025.

His previous achievements at the City Ground have made him an obvious candidate to attract attention amid the uncertainty surrounding Glasner’s position.

However, despite Nuno’s availability, Football FanCast understands that Forest have no current intention of bringing their former manager back.

The club are reportedly not considering a reunion, suggesting that the hierarchy remain prepared to give Glasner an opportunity to implement his plans rather than return to a previous appointment.

Nuno has previously received considerable praise from compatriot José Mourinho, who described his managerial work as outstanding and highlighted the tactical quality of his teams.

Nevertheless, a return to Nottingham Forest does not appear to be under consideration at this stage.

Sean Dyche urges Nottingham Forest to give Glasner more time.

Former Nottingham Forest manager Sean Dyche has also shared his thoughts on Glasner’s difficult situation, calling on the club to exercise patience instead of immediately considering another managerial change.

Dyche, who is currently without a managerial position, reflected on his own experience at the City Ground and the challenges he encountered before his departure.

The former forest boss highlighted the team’s struggles in front of goal, explaining that his coaching staff experienced similar frustrations despite the underlying performance statistics suggesting that the side was creating enough opportunities.

He recalled a particular goalless encounter against Wolves in which Forest registered 35 attempts but failed to find the net.

Dyche suggested that the inability to convert chances ultimately contributed to his dismissal alongside members of his coaching staff.

He subsequently expressed hope that Glasner would receive sufficient time to improve the situation, while encouraging supporters and players to stand behind the Austrian manager.

Meanwhile, Glasner appears to retain the backing of Nottingham Forest’s hierarchy, with Sky Sports reporting that the club’s senior figures welcomed his strong reaction following the Brentford defeat.

For now, another managerial departure does not appear to be imminent. Despite Forest’s disappointing position and the availability of several experienced managers, the club seems willing to give Glasner the opportunity to address their problems and turn their season around.
