The 24-year-old striker has attracted interest from several Premier League and European clubs following his impressive form under Sunderland manager Régis Le Bris.
Juventus are currently regarded as one of the leading contenders for Brobbey’s signature, with the future of Newcastle striker Nick Woltemade potentially influencing whether the Italian giants make a move for the Netherlands international.
Former Manchester United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that Woltemade’s expected return to Newcastle could pave the way for Juventus to pursue Brobbey next summer.
Woltemade joined Juventus on loan during the summer transfer window, but there is currently no agreement in place for the Serie A club to make his move permanent when the loan expires.
If Juventus decide against signing the Newcastle forward permanently, they are likely to enter the transfer market for another striker, with Brobbey emerging as one of their potential targets.
Is Nick Woltemade set to return to Newcastle?
Brown told Football Insider on 6 October that Woltemade is unlikely to remain at Juventus beyond his loan spell after struggling to establish himself in Turin.
The 24-year-old completed a late deadline-day move to the Italian club but has yet to start a Serie A match. His loan agreement also does not include a permanent purchase option.
Unless his situation changes significantly during the campaign, Woltemade is expected to return to St James’ Park, which could potentially create a problem for Sunderland if Juventus then turn their attention towards Brobbey.
Brown explained that the situation surrounding Woltemade and Juventus could have a major impact on Brobbey’s future.
He said Juventus currently have the Newcastle striker on loan but appear unlikely to make the move permanent. Woltemade would therefore return to Newcastle, leaving Juventus needing to find another striker for next season.
According to Brown, Brobbey is already attracting significant interest and a move to a club of Juventus’ stature could be difficult for the Sunderland forward to turn down.
That makes Newcastle an important factor in determining whether Brobbey remains at Sunderland, with Juventus’ decision on Woltemade potentially setting the entire transfer chain in motion.
Sunderland determined to keep Brian Brobbey
Juventus are not the only major club monitoring Brobbey, with several potential suitors keeping tabs on the striker ahead of the 2027 transfer windows.
The Turin club have reportedly dispatched scouts to watch him, while Manchester United, Tottenham and Aston Villa have also been linked with a potential move.
Despite the growing interest, Sunderland are determined to retain their star forward.
Brown previously revealed on 21 September that Sunderland are keen to keep Brobbey on Wearside and currently have no intention of allowing him to leave.
His outstanding display in Sunderland’s 5-3 defeat to Manchester City last month, when he scored a hat-trick, is expected to generate even more interest in his services.
However, Sunderland are understood to be unwilling to discuss his future at this stage and are prepared to fight hard to prevent the striker from leaving the Stadium of Light.
