Coventry City are reportedly monitoring the progress of highly rated young midfielder, who has attracted attention from several European clubs following his impressive performances in Sweden.

According to Swedish publication Fotbollskanalen, the Sky Blues are among at least 12 clubs keeping tabs on the 19-year-old, who currently plays for Allsvenskan side Häcken.

Trabzonspor are reportedly preparing to make an official offer for the Ivory Coast-born midfielder, whose potential transfer fee is believed to be around €5 million (£4.18 million).

However, Coventry are not alone in their pursuit, with Premier League clubs Sunderland and Everton also reportedly interested in securing his services.

Other clubs linked with the youngster include Bayer Leverkusen, Club Brugge, Strasbourg, Paris FC, SC Freiburg, Nice, Lens and Celtic, highlighting the growing competition for his signature.

He has established himself as an important member of Häcken’s midfield since arriving from Ivorian club ASEC Mimosas approximately 12 months ago.

The 19-year-old has enjoyed an encouraging first campaign in Sweden’s top division, making 25 league appearances, scoring twice and providing three assists.

His contributions have helped Häcken climb to fourth position in the Allsvenskan standings as the season approaches its conclusion.

He was also involved for the entire 90 minutes during Sunday’s 1-0 victory over IFK Göteborg, further demonstrating his importance to the team.

Häcken manager Jens Gustafsson has been particularly impressed with the youngster’s overall qualities, describing him as a relatively complete midfielder.

The Swedish coach praised his ability to cover significant areas defensively, progress possession through forward passing and maintain an aggressive approach when pressing opposition players.

Gustafsson believes Doumbia possesses many of the characteristics required of a modern midfielder, combining defensive responsibility with technical ability and impressive intensity.

Having joined Häcken from ASEC Mimosas earlier this year, the Ivorian remains under contract until 2030.

His age, potential, and existing experience in senior football make him an attractive long-term investment for clubs looking to strengthen their midfield options.

Frank Lampard could welcome another midfield addition at Coventry

Coventry manager Frank Lampard is continuing to assess his midfield options as he looks to establish the right combination in the center of the pitch.

The former Chelsea midfielder has recently experimented with different partnerships, switching between Victor Torp and Matt Grimes alongside summer signing Caleb Yirenkyi.

Yirenkyi, who arrived in a reported £23 million deal, is also only 20 years old and is still adapting to the demands of English football.

Doumbia’s potential arrival could therefore provide Lampard with another young option as he looks to develop greater competition and depth in midfield.

However, the reported interest from more than a dozen clubs means Coventry could face considerable competition if they decide to formalize their interest.

With Trabzonspor reportedly preparing an offer and Sunderland and Everton also monitoring the situation, the Sky Blues may need to move quickly to strengthen their position in the transfer race.

For now, Doumbia remains an exciting prospect to watch, with his performances in Sweden continuing to attract attention from clubs across Europe.
