The Detroit Lions are still irritated by the questionable judgment of unlawful contact on the two-point try in Saturday night’s 20-19 loss. Brad Allen and his crew of officials have made several game-changing, contentious calls. According to ESPN, Allen’s team will be eliminated from the postseason.

Peyton Hendershot of the Cowboys was called for tripping on Aidan Hutchinson just before the Lions’ call. The proper call should have been on Hutchinson, giving Dallas the opportunity to win the game.

Following Amon-Ra St. Brown’s score to tie it 20-19, the Lions chose to go for two in an attempt to grab the lead. Goff eventually found offensive tackle Taylor Decker in the end zone, who has an ineligible number of 68, for what seemed to be the game-winning convert. If a player has an ineligible number to catch a pass, they must notify the defense by reporting to the official before the play. Brad Allen reported tackle Dan Skipper, number 70, as eligible rather than 68. As a result, the penalty for illegal touching was imposed. The Lions would eventually fail to convert, falling 20-19.

The Lions failed to convert and were defeated 20-19. Next week, Detroit hosts Minnesota in their final regular-season game.
