Newcastle United could get some more good injury news before the end of the month, with the likely return of one player.

Eddie Howe could need some great news about his players who are now unavailable after just losing Joelinton to another injury.

According to The Athletic, Wilson might make his return from injury against Fulham in the FA Cup after missing Newcastle’s opening two games of 2023.

Newcastle’s injury record is posing huge issues.

Wilson, who had a really good season last year, making 31 Premier League matches, has just not been consistent enough for Newcastle this season.

His injury record is placing a lot of pressure on Alexander Isak to play most games knowing he won’t have anyone on the bench to assist him, and his conditioning record is also questionable.

There has been some discussion about maybe replacing Wilson in the summer, or adding a third-choice striker to offer depth, but they are extremely difficult to find.

Howe simply cannot rely on both of these players to lead his Newcastle club for the entire season, as they are prone to missing roughly half of the games due to injury.

Newcastle could get a significant boost by the end of January.

There was speculation that the 31-year-old will miss the entire month of January, leaving Isak with a lot of work to do after already playing the full 90 minutes against Sunderland and Liverpool.

However, Howe may have the attacker back in the squad by the time Newcastle travels to Craven Cottage on the 27th, just a few days before facing Aston Villa.

There’s also hope that Harvey Barnes and Joe Willock will have recovered from their injuries by the end of the month, giving Howe the closest thing to a fully fit squad he’s had since the season began.
