Since Andy Reid took over as head coach of the Kansas City Chiefs, the club has been among the best in the NFL. Reid has been a head coach in the league for 25 years and is widely regarded as one of the best. However, a new revelation by Mike Florio implies that the long-time head coach’s time is running out, and he disclosed that Reid could resign as soon as the end of the season.

According to Florio, the Chiefs may be preparing for Reid’s surprise retirement. During his coaching tenure, Reid has a 247-138-1 regular season record and a 22-16 postseason record, ranking second in NFL history in overall wins (269). He is a three-time Super Bowl champion, having won two with the Chiefs, so his career has already been considered successful.

If Kansas City wins it all again this season, it is possible that the long-time head coach will retire at the age of 65. Reid was recently asked about his future at a Chiefs press conference, which he flatly denied, claiming retirement was not on his radar. However, Florio’s assessment suggests that the head coach may be operating under the radar in order to avoid drawing attention to the situation.

The one I’m watching is, after the Chiefs season finishes, is Andy Reid going to retire? He has stated that he is not considering it, and the astute one would argue that there is nothing to consider if he has stated that he will not do it.

Flying Under the Radar

Florio adds that the uncertainty surrounding Reid’s future may generate huge disruption in the NFL coaching market, as the position of Chiefs coach would soon become highly sought after among current head coach candidates. As the Chiefs continue their postseason run, this will undoubtedly be a hot issue, especially if Kansas City wins the Super Bowl. Do you think Reid will stay with the team for the foreseeable future, or will he retire after the season?
