Newcastle United are apparently looking to acquire a new midfielder this summer.

According to a recent Football Insider story, the Magpies ‘had created a detailed scouting dossier’ on Everton’s Amadou Onana.

Newcastle United are looking to bolster their central midfield options by signing at least one first-team player at the conclusion of the season.

This season has been a huge struggle owing to injuries and suspensions, most notably Joelinton, who is sidelined for the rest of the season, and Sandro Tonali, who is suspended for illicit betting activities.

Eddie Howe, eager to strengthen his alternatives for next season, believes Everton’s diligent number eight may be the ideal long-term solution.

The Belgian midfielder, who already has nine international caps, has been a revelation for the Toffees since his move from Lille 18 months ago.

And, with his current contract scheduled to end in 2027 and high-profile interest growing, Sean Dyche will be preparing for the 22-year-old’s unavoidable departure from Goodison Park.

Since landing on Merseyside, Onana, who is worth roughly £50 million (TM), has personally contributed to six goals in 59 games across all competitions.
