Southampton permitted Paul Onuachu to join Trabzonspor on loan last summer, and he has impressed for them this season, scoring nine goals and providing three assists in 19 appearances.

Trabzonspor manager Abdullah Avcı expressed interest in the striker’s “wish” before deciding on his future.

On March 13th, Fotospor said that Southampton wants €12 million for Onuachu, while the Turkish club cannot pay more than €10 million.

Fast forward to April, and a story in today’s Sabah suggests Trabzonspor has devised a fresh strategy to keep the 29-year-old.
Their goal is to extend the Nigerian international’s loan agreement for another season. Trabzonspor authorities ‘will sit down’ with Southampton representatives in the ‘coming days’ to accomplish this.

Onuachu’s contract with the Championship club expires in 2026, and the Saints have not indicated if they are willing to allow him leave on another loan deal.

If a deal for the former Genk player cannot be reached, the Süper Lig club would consider other possibilities on the market, according to the report.

Meanwhile, Sabah also stated that Trabzonspor are working on signing striker Denis Draguş, who is presently on loan at Gaziantep from Viitorul Constanța.
