Last night, Arsenal fans were presented to some incredible news, and Newcastle United’s Sven Botman appears to be equally thrilled.

Aren’t the Gunners in a great position right now?

After Arsenal’s back-to-back defeats against Aston Villa in the Premier League and Bayern Munich in the Champions League, the fan base was downcast.

The Gunners had a dreadful week, but they recovered over the weekend with a win over Wolves and are now back at the top of the standings.

Now there’s more good news for Arsenal.

Sven Botman reacts after what Jurrien Timber did last night

Have Arsenal missed Jurrien Timber this season?

Last summer, the Gunners recruited the Dutch international from Ajax, with the expectation that he would provide Mikel Arteta with different options.

Timber may play at full-back, in the heart of the defence, or in midfield.

Not many players in the world can do that, but Timber sustained a serious knee injury that has kept him out of first-team action to this day.

However, the 22-year-old made his long-awaited return by starting for the U21s against Blackburn Rovers yesterday, and he made an immediate impact.

Timber, who started at left-back, scored an incredible goal after only nine minutes, leaving Arsenal fans in awe of his brilliance.

The defender and Arsenal player shared a couple photos of his homecoming on Instagram after the game last night, and Timber, predictably, received a lot of love.

Sven Botman, Newcastle United’s star, was delighted to see his compatriot return to action.

“What we want to see,” he commented in the comments section of the post.

Mikel Arteta responds when asked if Timber will play vs Tottenham

Arsenal has a big week of football coming up.

The Gunners play Chelsea today at the Emirates Stadium before traveling across the road to face Tottenham Hotspur over the weekend.

These two games might define Arsenal’s season, and Timber’s probable comeback is a significant lift for the Gunners, even if it is unknown whether he is ready for first-team action.

Mikel Arteta was asked during his news conference yesterday, before Timber played for the U21s, if the Dutchman would be able to make the squad for the game against Tottenham this weekend.

Arteta responded: “That’s a quick step. Let us see how he feels today. He has been doing excellent training. He seems ready.

“He needs that exposure, and then we’ll see if the game comes at the proper time or too soon. We’ll try to have him join us for the last games.”
