Eddie Howe has confirmed that the Bruno Guimaraes transfer drama will not take over Newcastle United’s summer.

The 26-year-old remains linked with a move away from St James’ Park, with Arsenal and Manchester City interested in signing the Brazilian midfielder.

However, Newcastle United are reportedly hoping to keep him for another year, and Joelinton’s presence should persuade Bruno Guimaraes to stay. In addition, he has spent money on a new house in the neighborhood, which many believe demonstrates his desire to stay at Newcastle United.

However, a £100 million release clause hangs over his head, so rumours will persist.

Fabrizio Romano shares transfer update on Bruno Guimaraes

And transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano revealed an intriguing fact about that release clause on Thursday night.

He reported to X that, while Bruno’s contract includes a £100 million release clause, it is only valid for a limited time.

According to Romano, the clause is only valid from the last week of May to the start of the last week of June. Following that, Newcastle would be free to negotiate whatever sum they desired for the Brazil international.

It’s certainly an intriguing situation, and Eddie Howe has already remarked on the idea.

He talked with the media ahead of Newcastle’s match against Sheffield United, telling Sky Sports’ Keith Downie that the rumor about Bruno’s release clause is real.

“Having that was well planned and structured by the club, in a sense that there’s a sort of finish point,” he went on to say.

“We don’t want endless conjecture; it’s not good for the player or us.

“It goes without saying that we want to keep him, and I hope to build our team around him. His form has been excellent, and he appears to be extremely happy and relaxed. He’ll be thinking about a very busy summer, which he hopes to spend with the team. But we don’t have control over it, so let’s see.

Good decision by Newcastle United

Howe has been extremely open about Bruno’s release clause, which he says was carefully prepared by the club. This suggests that the matter will be resolved quickly.

Option one is to sell him during that period and have plenty of time to find a replacement, while the proceeds will be included in the next accounts that must be submitted by the end of June. Option two is that there is no buyer during the £100 million window of opportunity, allowing Newcastle to dig in for the remainder of the summer and focus on a future with Bruno.

The only way things may change is if he asks to leave, but all of the clamor emanating from the midfielder indicates towards him wanting to stay.

Hopefully, he stays at St James’ Park since he is a world-class player. Eddie Howe wants to construct his team around him, just like Alexander Isak. They are Newcastle’s superstars, and they must stay with the club no matter what this summer.
